The department offers a 5-year BS-MS (dual) degree in the discipline of Geology, Environmental Science, and Earth and Environmental Sciences. After the successful completion of common courses that the institute offers in the first two years, students can opt to pursue a major in any of the three disciplines at the department. Apart from the major, the department also offers electives towards minor in Earth and Environmental Sciences to BS-MS students of other departments. The courses offered by the department are aimed at opening doors to careers in environmental monitoring, natural hazards, petroleum and mineral exploration, and water resources.
